The renovation of the Robert I. Schattner Clinic and construction of the new Schattner Pavilion for Penn Dental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania includes the modernization of a 12,300 sf teaching clinic and associated ancillary spaces. The 4,900 SF, two-story addition is home for a new student lounge and much-needed patient waiting space.
The new addition strategically locates a student lounge at level 1 and patient waiting at level 2 to improve wayfinding within the School’s three-building complex while encouraging the desired interaction between students, faculty, and researchers. By enclosing an exterior arcade, the team was able to extend the impact of the project to highlight connections between the newly created spaces and the existing facility.
